Demonstrating the valuable role of intelligent system design and forward thinking in the reduction of energy costs and carbon emissions in manufacturing plants, IsoCool has won the RAC Industrial Project of the Year Award for the second year in a row. This year IsoCool won the award for its work at Coveris Rigid UK Ltd, a plastics manufacturer based in Mansfield. The project has seen IsoCool save Coveris Rigid over £53,000 a year on cooling costs thanks to a series of innovative and proactive solutions – all of which were overlooked by other cooling solution providers competing for the work – that went far beyond the original brief for a new chilled water system.

Once again, IsoCool was up against a number of high profile process cooling, refrigeration, and air conditioning companies from both commercial and industrial sectors, all of which has submitted worthy entries for the award. However, IsoCool’s project outshone the competition, demonstrating unparalleled benefits to the client in terms of environmental advantages, carbon saving, return on investment, improved performance, and the use of repeatable innovative methods and technologies.

IsoCool’s solution involved a complex combination of upgrading existing equipment, recycling redundant equipment, centralising chiller systems, and the use of free cooling equipment, including IsoCool’s IsoFC intelligent packaged heat exchanger, adiabatic cooling, and the recommissioning of a redundant air blast chiller to provide up to 100% direct air cooling. Speaking of IsoCool’s work, managing director at Coveris Rigid Tony Park commented:

“IsoCool produced detailed cost analyses of our existing energy consumption compared with their new solutions. The savings were fantastic and return on investment excellent.”

Delighted with the award win, Managing Director of IsoCool, Nigel Hallett, said:

“The whole team at IsoCool is thrilled to have won this award – especially for the second year running. Coveris Rigid is an important project for us as it perfectly showcases our abilities to seek out intelligent, proactive solutions that can help our clients to achieve significant energy, cost and carbon savings. It’s wonderful to have that effort recognised by the industry.”

The prestigious awards event, now in its 10th year, saw almost 700 refrigeration and cooling professionals descend on the London Hilton on Park Lane on the 24th September, 2014.
